How to grow California Fuchsia
When growing California Fuchsia from seed it is best to start them off outdoors. Sow the seeds in the springtime on the surface. California Fuchsia should be spaced at about 40 to 50cm apart and they are able of grow in either a sunny or partially shady part of the garden. It is important that California Fuchsia grow in soils that have good drainage; a slightly alkaline to neutral pH of 7 to 8 should give best results. Plants of the Zauschneria genus usually take one or two months to germinate at a temperature of 15 to 18 degrees centigrade in the light.
Caring for California Fuchsia
Once California Fuchsia and other Zauschneria plants become established pinch back the young tips; this will encourage branching and result in a bushier growth. Dead head the plants regularly. California Fuchsia are drought tolerant so they have no special watering needs.
