Virginia Commonwealth University Information
The Virginia commonwealth university is located in Richmond in the United States. It has existed in its current form since 1968, but can trace its roots back to 1838 and the Hampden Sydney College. Nowadays it has expanded to offer over 170 different programs to a student body of around 32,000. The university is especially well known for its course on health, medicine, art and social work. It ranks particularly highly in the subjects of Sculpture, fine arts, graphic design and nurse anesthesia. Currently the Virginia commonwealth university is steered by president Eugene Trani.
The university has fourteen major colleges and schools, these offer programs in the following key areas:
Allied Health Professions; Art; Business; Dentistry; Education; Engineering; Government and Public Affairs; Humanities and Sciences; Mass Communications; Medicine; Nursing; Pharmacy; Social Work; and World Studies.
Some of the notable alumni and faculty associated with the virginia commonwealth university include the nobel prize winner Baruj Benacerraf (medicine). Others of note include the scientist Saul Krugman; actors Stephen Furst and Zachary Knighton; authors Robert Lanham and Tom Robbins; musicians Stefan Lessard and Pamela Armstrong; and the sports stars Sean Marshall, Dominic Oduro, Brandon Inge and Gerald Henderson.
