There are around 40,000 undergraduate students and approximately 2,400 postgraduate scholars, in addition to the 6,000 staff and faculty at Uppsala University. The president is Anders Hallberg. It is a member of the Coimbra group. It has many Nobel laureates including Svante Arrhenius and Theodore Svedberg for chemistry and Robert Barany for medicine.
