The university of Oregon is located in the town of Eugene in the USA. Having been founded in 1876 the university has grown in size to cover an area of 295 acres, and has eight major colleges and schools, enabling it to offer study across many disciplines. Today it is headed by president David Frohnmayer.

The students at the university of Oregon are very proud of its sports program; the university competes in the PAC-10 branch of the NCAA. The university is particularly strong in the area of athletics and it has enjoyed success in cross country and track and field events twelve times. SOme of the athletic alumni from the university of Oregon include Alberto Salazar and Steve Prefontaine.
