University of Hong Kong Information
Although ranked lowly by the Chinese Jiaotong university in its ranking the Hong Kong University is rated as the 18th best university in the world by the Times of London, and the 69th best in the world by Newsweek in their rankings. Founded in its present form in 1911 the university can trace its roots back to 1887 when the College of Medicine was established in the then British territory of Hong Kong by a group of London missionaries.
Hong Kong University is split into ten different faculties, these cater for the study of the following topic areas: Architecture; Arts; Business and Economics; Dentistry; Education; Engineering; Law; Medicine; Science; and Social Science.
Over the years the university of Hong Kong has gained a rich list of alumni and faculty including Sun Yat-sen the founder of Taiwan.
