University of Geneva Information
The university of Geneva is the second largest university in Switzerland and can trace it's roots back to 1559 when it was founded by John Calvin. Nowadays the rector is Professor Jean-Dominique Vassalli and is particularly strong in the studies of genetics, planetary science, and law and allows for the study of over 100 different disciplines.
These disciplines are spread across 9 faculties, many of which have inter-faculty relations for the allowance of multidisciplinary courses. The 9 main faculties cover the following subjects: Architecture; Arts; Economics and Social Sciences; Law; Medicine; Protestant Theology; Psychology and Educational Sciences; Sciences; and Translation and Interpretation studies.
The university of Geneva is a very prestigious university and has many affiliations chief amongst these are its membership of the league of European research universities, and of Coimbra.
