University of Florence Information
Located in the Italian city of Firenze (English: Florence) and With nearly 60,000 students, the university of Florence is one of the largest universities in Europe. And with it being able to trace its roots back to the mid 14th century (when it was the Studium Generale) it is also one of the oldest. Nowadays the university is governed by the rector Augusto Marinelli.
The university of Florence is split into twelve different faculties; these cater for the following core subject areas: Arts; Mathematics, Physics and Natural Sciences; Engineering; political Science; Medicine and Surgery; Economics; Architecture; Education; Agriculture; Pharmacology; Psychology; and Law.
Over the years the university of Florence has attracted many notable faculty and scholars; some of the faculty of note include the poet Mario Luzi; politicians Giovanni Sartori, Sandro Pertini, and Giovanni Spadolini; and the economist Giovanni Andrea Cornia.
