University of Dundee Information

Although the university of Dundee was only granted independent status in 1967 it can trace its roots back as far as 1881, when an external college of Saint Andrews university was established in Dundee. Today the university attracts around eighteen thousand students and it's running overseen by Chancellor Lord Patel.

The university of Dundee is split into four main colleges as follows:

College of Art, Science and Engineering
College of Arts and Social Sciences
College of Life Sciences
College of Medicine, Dentistry and Nursing

These colleges offer study of a large range of disciplines including subjects such as Architecture, Art, Computing, Education, Law, Biology, Dentistry, Nursing and Medicine.

Since its establishment in 1881 (as part of Saint Andrews) the university of Dundee has seen many renowned scholars and faculty pass through its gates including the Nobel prize winner James Black. Others include Gary Lightbody and Karine Polwart (music); Craig Murray, Christopher Chope, Bruce Millan and Alan Turnbull (politicians); and the scientists Robert Alexander Watson-Watt, Patrick Geddes, James Alfred Ewing and Richard Collins.
