University of Cologne Information
Established in the late 14th century the university of Cologne is one of the oldest universities in Germany. Today it is a well respected university and leads Germany in studies in economics; it is also very strong in the fields of management and law. The university is currently ran by the rector Axel Freimuth and will remain so until 2009.
Currently the university of Cologne is split into seven major colleges and offers study in over 200 subjects. The schools of the university are:

School of Philosophy and Humanities
School of Mathematics and Natural Sciences
School of Pedagogy
School of Special Education and Rehabilitation
Being a long established and prestigious university, Cologne has many notable alumni including many Nobel prize winners such as the chemist Kurt Alder and the physicist Peter Grünberg. Other notable alumni include the former German presidents Gustav Heinemann and Karl Carstens.
