The University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) was founded in 1919 as a public university in Westwood, Los Angeles, California, United States of America. It is a member of the ten strong University of California system and is the second oldest member of this group.

The UCLA libraries have around eight million books; this makes it the eleventh biggest library system in the USA. In all there are twelve libraries at UCLA with the oldest being the Powell.
