Trinity College Dublin Information
This university is usually referred to as Trinity College Dublin as its full name is rather long winded, being: 'Provost, Fellows and Scholars of the College of the Holy and Undivided Trinity of Queen Elizabeth near Dublin'.
It can trace its roots back to the early 16th century when it was created by HRH Queen Elizabeth. Today it is headed by the provost John Hegarty. Trinity College is hold high in university standings and is ranked as the 13th best university in Europe by the Times, and as the best university in Ireland in the Jiao Tong University rankings.
Trinity has three major faculties and a law school:
Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences
Faculty of Engineering, Mathematics and Sciences
Faculty of Health Sciences
Being such a long established and prestigious university has led Trinity College Dublin to produce or be associated with many great scholars over the years, these include greats such as Oscar Wilde, Bram Stoker, and Jonathan Swift; the Nobel prize winners Samuel Beckett and Ernest Walton; and Edmund Burke and Oliver Goldsmith.
