Syracuse University Information
Founded in 1872 Syracuse university can trace its roots back to 1832 when the Genessee Wesleyan Seminary was formed; this soon became genessee college. Permission was received to become a chartered university by New York State in 1870. Today the university is home to around 20,000 students and grants around 5,000 degrees a year. The university is currently presided over by Chancellor Nancy Cantor.
