Montana State University at Bozeman Information
The Montana State University System, or Montana State University (MSU), was founded on the 1st of July 1994 after the state's Board of Regents of Higher Education reformed all colleges and universities in the state into two main universities, the University of Montana system and the Montana State University system.
The two systems each had campuses in four different cities and the Montana State University system was given the Bozeman, Billings, Havre and Great Falls campuses. The system installed a president in its Bozeman campus, while the other three campuses each had a Chancellor.
Its main campus in Bozeman was established in 1893 under the name Agricultural College of the State of Montana. After the creation of the MSU system, it was renamed Montana College of Agriculture and Mechanic Arts, though from 1920 onwards, its was colloquially known as Montana State College. Its academic offerings include 51 undergraduate degrees, masters level studies in 41 disciplines, and several doctoral degrees spread out over its nine colleges. These colleges include the College of Arts and Architecture, College of Agriculture, College of Education, Health & Human Development, College of Business, College of Letters and Science, College of Engineering, College of Technology in Bozeman, College of Nursing, College of Graduate Studies and the University College, which encompasses students who are undecided in which major to take.
MSU's Billings campus was original founded in 1927 under the name Eastern Montana Normal School. It was also known as the Eastern Montana college before it was included into the MSU system. Aside from its 160 undergraduate and graduate degrees, the Billings campus offers a distance learning program with more than 240 classes in various levels from associate to masters.
MSU's Havre campus was originally established in 1927 under the name Northern Montana College before it was renamed as Montana State University – Northern when the system was implemented.
