Karolinska Institute
The Karolinska institute is located in Stockholm and is Sweden´s largest centre for medical training and research. It was founded in 1810.
The karolinska institute is famous for the giving out of Nobel prizes in the fields of physiology or medicine. It has been handling the awards since 1895, and handed out the first Nobel award in 1901. The Institute itself has received four Nobel prizes these being given to Theorell (1955), Granit (1967), von Euler (1970) and shared by Bergstrom and Samuelsson (1985). It is a member of the League of European Research Universities.
